Deacon James I Mickens
Deacon James I Mickens, 66, of Sarver, formerly of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Sunday at his home.
Born Oct. 20, 1950, in Hollywood, Calif., he was the son of Carleton Cleveland Mickens and Dorothy Mulhern Mickens.
Jim was self-employed for over 30 years, providing after-market auto accessories. He was a member of the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church. He was ordained Nov. 16, 2002, at the Diocese of Phoenix and incardinated in 2013 at the Diocese of Pittsburgh and placed at the Holy Sepulcher. He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed Scripture study and travel.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Valance Mickens, who he married Oct. 14, 1995; and two brothers, Carl Cleveland (Gail) Mickens Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and John Carleton Mickens of Idaho.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Diane Mickens King.
MICKENS — Friends of Deacon James I Mickens, who died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church with Bishop David Zubik officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Savior Cemetery.
