Mary Lou O'Cilka

Mary Lou O’Cilka, 74, of Middlesex Township passed away Friday at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless from complications of a short illness.

Born Oct. 11, 1942, she was the daughter of Steve and Virginia Kirsch Bartock of Northern Cambria, Pa., who preceded her in death.

Mary Lou was the beloved spouse of John O’Cilka and together would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on June 1.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Angela O’Cilka of Jacksonville, Fla., and Monica Wagner and her husband, Donn, of State College, Pa; and her grandchildren, Ian and Kate, of State College.

She also is survived by her sister, Linda, and her husband, Charles Mandeville, of Chesapeake, Va., and their son and three daughters and their families.

Earlier in her adult life, she was employed in public relations of the Federal Aviation Agency in Washington, D.C., where she met John and they first lived in married life. She enjoyed reading all types of literature, having read and donated 500 books to various organizations. Mary Lou was a longtime member and supporter of the Holy Sepulcher Parish and School, the Penn State Alumni Association and Smithsonian Institution.

O’CILKA — Family and friends of Mary Lou O’Cilka, 74, of Middlesex Township passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home in Bakerstown.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Sepulcher Church in Glade Mills with the Rev. Robert Cedolia officiating, and burial will be at the Holy Savior Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to the Holy Sepulcher School Tuition Assistance Fund, 6515 Old Rt. 8 N, Butler, PA 16002, or to the Passavant Hospital Foundation, 9100 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
