Paul A. Gordon
Paul A. Gordon, of State College, died Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the age of 90.
He was born May 6, 1931, to Michael Gordon and Mary Blissak of Butler.
Paul graduated from Butler Senior High School in 1949, went on to join the U.S. Navy, and served during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he went on to graduate from Grove City College in 1959.
He married the former Wanda L. Hepler, who was the daughter of Juliette and Edward Hepler of Butler.
Paul was employed by West Penn Power Company, and retired after 30 years of service.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 321, American Legion Post 245, life member of Elks 1600, and Knights of Columbus counsel number 4578.
During his retirement, Paul loved to play golf and was a member of the Burning Tee League. He also found joy in exercising and running outdoors into his late 80s. After retirement, Paul and Wanda traveled to Florida for the winter months for 20 years and enjoyed their "snow bird" friends.
Paul is survived by his wife, Wanda; three children, Linda Gordon Stevens (David) of Lorton, Va., Gary Michael Gordon of Lowell, Ark., and Marilee Haupt (Philip) of Port Matilda, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Michael Stevens of Reston, Va., Jonathan Stevens of Reston, Va., Matthew Haupt (Kelsey) of Middleburg, Pa., and Nichole Haupt, presently serving in the U.S. Navy in Guam; and his nephew, Scott Gordon (Carol) of Atlanta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gordon of Greensburg, Pa.
GORDON — A Mass for Paul A. Gordon, who died Wednesday, April 6, 2022, was held at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father George Jakopac officiating.
A private burial will be held at Pine Hall Cemetery.
