Here are the results for Butler County commissioner in Tuesday's primary:

DemocratsDemocrats opted for change as challengers Jim Eckstein and Jerry Johnston handily won the two nominations.Incumbent Jim Lokhaiser lost his re-election bid.Eckstein, 54, a Butler Township contractor, finished first with 4,647 votes, or 35 percent.Johnston, 61, also of Butler Township and a youth care worker for Adelphoi Village, received 4,520 votes, or 34 percent.Lokhaiser, 75, of Center Township received 3,777 votes, or 28 percent.

RepublicansRepublican voters chose experience as incumbent Commissioner Dale Pinkerton finished first with 5,798 votes, more than 20 percent.However, the second place winner won't be known until later today when the absentee ballots are counted.Although former Commissioner Bill McCarrier beat Jeff Smith by 46 votes for second place, that tally doesn't include 292 Republican absentee ballots.Shari Brewer, county elections bureau director, said absentee ballots will be counted today.McCarrier, 71, of Butler Township received 5,368 votes, or 18.9 percent.Smith, 56, of Butler, the executive director of the Butler County Council of Governments, placed third with 5,322 votes, or 18.7 percent.The absentee ballots also could affect Kim Geyer of Adams Township. Geyer, 48, came in fourth with 5,205 votes, or 18.3 percent.Dr. William DiCuccio, 62, also of Adams Township, placed fifth with 4,942 votes, or 17.4 percent of the vote.The final Republican candidate, Margaret Abersold, 52, a Middlesex Township attorney, received 1,673 votes, or 5.89 percent.
