Boy, 6, dies after SUV hits tree, rollsLOWER BURRELL — A 6-year-old boy has been killed in a crash that police said occurred when his mother swerved to miss a deer.The Westmoreland County coroner planned an autopsy today on the body of Isaac Thomas. The Lower Burrell boy was pronounced dead at a hospital more than an hour after the crash Thursday morning. Police said the boy’s mother, Amber Kindler, was traveling on a rural road when she hit a tree trying to avoid the deer. Her SUV rolled onto its side and slid into another tree, police said.Kindler was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The boy attended the Burrell School District.
Gator roams streets near PhiladelphiaCOLLEGEVILLE — Police said they were called to corral an alligator that was seen wandering a suburban Philadelphia street.Collegeville Officer Matt Cubbler was called to the scene around 8:45 a.m. Thursday. By the time he arrived, a resident had snagged the alligator with a lacrosse stick and placed it in a small dog crate.Cubbler said the alligator was up to 2 feet long and was turned over to animal control. He said he believes the gator was released into nearby Perkiomen Creek, which is illegal.
