Light Up the Sky
Fourth of July in Butler County will be celebrated with parades, fireworks and a rubber duck race.
There are several locations throughout the county where people can view professional fireworks displays and enjoy other activities.
ButlerThe sky will light up over Butler with fireworks at dusk July 4 being launched from Kelly Automotive Park after the Butler BlueSox baseball game that evening.
Big Butler FairWhile the Big Butler Fair provides family fun and activities all week, the night of July 4 will be capped off by a fireworks display put on by Shively Fireworks, based in Karns City.Shively's Gigantic Fireworks display will go off at dusk.Carnival rides at the fair open at 1 p.m. A draft horse fun show will be held at 4:30 p.m.Also at the fair that day is the Rock Done Right! Concert starting at 5 p.m. Anger the Ant will go on first, followed by TeraChain Sky at 6 p.m., The Shiners at 7 p.m. and Charee White at 8 p.m.
MarsMars also has a day of fun planned starting at 3 p.m. July 4. There will food and activities downtown near the flying saucer.The parade will begin at 5 p.m., going down Beaver Street to Pittsburgh Street and ending on Grand Avenue.Fireworks will go off at dark.
SaxonburgNew Life Christian Ministries will have a fireworks show at 139 Knoch Road at dusk Monday.The church parking lot will open at 8 p.m.Take seating for this free show. Alcohol and drugs are prohibited. The church will provide free water and popcorn.For more information, call 724-524-1547.
<b>Harmony</b>Harmony's celebrations will start a little early. The annual concert on the square series kicks off tonight with two performances concluding with fireworks.Dale Krysinski will play starting at 7 p.m. in the town square, and the Allegheny Brass Band will follow at 8 p.m. Fireworks will go off at dark.Guests are to take their seating to the free event. This concert is sponsored by the Harmony Museum.<b>Zelienople</b>Celebrations start early in Zelienople with the Firecracker 5K that begins at 8 a.m. July 4 at Zelienople Community Park.There's also a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. Awards will go to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as age group winners.There are discounts for families to enter the race. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m.The annual Fourth of July Community Day celebration continues with the Zelienople Rotary Club parade down Main Street at 11 a.m. The day's events are put on by the Zelienople Community Park, said park manager Laurie Berie.“This is our payback to the community,” Berie said. “It's for all their efforts and hard work to keep the park going.”There will be food, drinks and desserts at the park concession stand. The Derby Duck Race starts at 1:50 p.m. at the pool, where there also will be free swimming and pool games all day.A concert in the park by the Pittsburgh Philharmonic will begin at 8:15 p.m., followed by fireworks at about 9:30 p.m.
