Mary R. Sarvey
Mary R. Sarvey, 89, of Butler passed away Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born June 5, 1928, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Clayton Otis and Lena (Snyder) Shields.
Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School for several years and had belonged to the Berean Class.
She was an extraordinary homemaker who loved serving her church and community. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were her pride and joy.
Surviving are her husband, Walter L. Sarvey of Butler, whom she married Aug. 31, 1950; her son, Larry (Cathy) Sarvey of Butler; three grandchildren, Marybeth (Jeff) Harris of Pittsburgh, Justin (Jodi) Sarvey of Zelienople, and Becca (Tyler) Allie of Johnson City, Tenn.; her great- grandchildren, Brooke and Payson Sarvey and Eli Harris; two sisters, Lena (Earl) Sarvey of Renfrew, and Joann Filges of Chicora.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
SARVEY — Friends of Mary R. Sarvey, who died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Young Funeral Home, 127 W.
