Betty Groger

Betty T. Groger, 88, of Butler died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2017, at the V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice.

Born Feb. 12, 1929, in Conneaut Lake, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Merle Lauderman and Susan Elizabeth Hollenbeck Lauderman.

Betty was a homemaker, and was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She enjoyed bowling and dancing and was a member of the Country Music and Dance Club of Butler, the Tristate Country Music Association and the Western Pennsylvania Country Music Association.

Surviving are her three daughters, Julia A. (Harry) Schmeider of Butler, Janet M. Groger of Butler and Joan E. (Joe) Wilson of West Sunbury; six grandchildren, Michelle Spahr, Tracey Belak, Sabrina Twentier, Travis Twentier, Charles Wilson and Matthew Wilson; nine great-grandchildren: Tyler, Cooper, Zachary, Marin, Dante, Lexis, Brad, Hayden and Grace.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Joseph Groger, whom she married July 19, 1947, and who died Feb. 2, 2017; five brothers; and one sister.

GROGER — Friends of Betty T. Groger, who died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2017, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. Harry Bielewicz, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Parish Cemetery.The women's council of St. Peter will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V.N.A.
