From peeling pink paint to attractive colors, Joseph and Kimberly Babinsack transformed the look of their house at W. 121 Pearl St.

For that, they were honored with the Neighborhood Pride Award.

The honor was originated by former Butler Councilman Rick Schontz, and revived by councilman Kenny Bonus.

Mayor Tom Donaldson presented the Babinsacks with the award at Thursday’s city council meeting.

“Those are the kinds of things that we hope are catalyst to the other people in the city to improve their properties and make our city look better, one house at a time,” Donaldson said.

Kimberly Babinsack did much of the painting, including the back porch. She and Joseph Babinsack used dark green, brown, burgundy and black paint.

“Everybody who’s driven by has raved about the colors we put on it,” Joseph Babinsack said.

The Babinsacks also put up a fence.

=The Neighborhood Pride Award is selected by the Neighborhood Pride Committee, which consists of Bonus, Mindy Gall and Derek Shick.

“If every house could look like it, you’d be very proud of where you live,” Bonus said.
