SEWICKLEY HEIGHTS — John Aubrey of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course and Travis Dickson of Treesdale Golf and County Club each fired 73s to tie for eighth place after Round 1 of the Sewickley Heights Invitational Monday.

Brad Westfall and Ed Vietmeier of 84 Golf Center each carded a 70 to tied for first place. Butler's Rob McClellan (Butler) of Olde Stonewall is tied for 13th (75) and Saxonburg's Joe Boros of Treesdale is tied for 27th (78).

GROVE CITY — Steven Feczko of Butler recently won a junior golf tournament held at Willow Hills Golf Course in Grove City.Feczko, 14, shot a 61 for nine holes to win the event.

CABOT — The third annual Concordia Lutheran Ministries Golf Outing raised nearly $50,000 for Concordia's Capital Campaign recently.The outing, held at Deer Run Golf Club in Gibsonia, played host to 148 golfers of all skill levels.The foursome of George Sandora, Tim Finley, Jim Annett and Vince Amendola won the low net competition with a 64. Marty Garda, Rich Zabinski, Richard Mottura and Shawn Pityk won the low gross competition with a 71.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Billy Herman, a Slippery Rock University 2006 PSAC all-conference selection, is headed to the National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series, which runs Wednesday through Sunday in Toledo, Ohio.Herman's squad, the Pittsburgh Pandas, compiled a 34-3 record in the 11-team, wooden-bat Tri-State League. The team captured the league title July 23 by defeating the Allegheny Athletics.The Pandas advanced to the NABF regional in Youngstown, which they won by defeating the Youngstown Metros and the Columbus Big Katz.

Tickets for Brian Minto's 6-round heavyweight boxing match against Andy Sample Aug. 11 at Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort in Chester, W. Va., are available by calling 724-234-7430.Tickets are $125 for platinum (first two rows), $60 for ringside, $40 for reserved and $20 for bleachers. Tables of 10 — including a buffet dinner and beverages — are available for $250 per person.The Butler fighter is 251 while Sample, of Topeka, Kan., is 34-13-2. Part of this fight card will be telecast live on ESPN's "Friday Night at the Fights."
