Mary Ann Laux
Mary Ann Laux, 73, of Fort Myers, Fla., died Jan. 3 at the Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers.
Mary Ann is formerly of Freeport. She was born Nov. 28, 1943, in New Brighton to Frank and Marth Jane Ballon. She lived most of her life in Freeport, then moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 2009.
Mary Ann worked as a project manager for 30 years with the Armstrong County Housing Authority and the Westmoreland County Housing Authority.
She was a member of St. Mary Mother of God Church and also attended the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport, where for over 20 years, she was a Sunday school teacher and the director of the junior choir.
Mary Ann lived in Tionesta briefly where she faithfully attended St. Anthony. After moving to Fort Myers, she attended the Church of the Resurrection. Mary Ann often joked that she was baptized Methodist, raised in a Lutheran Church, raised her children Presbyterian and then became Catholic. She wanted all the bases covered.
Mary Ann was an avid reader, and her passion in life was making quilts for others. She was a charter member of the Piece and Happiness Quilt Club in Pennsylvania, and she was also the leader for the Jamaica Bay Quilters in Florida.
She is survived by her husband, John T. Laux; three children, Kimberley (Sam) Kelly-Clutter, Christine (Richard) Intartaglio, and James Kelly and his fiancé, Tracy; two stepchildren, Michael (Rene) Laux and Charles (Gretchen) Laux; her grandchildren, Amanda (Charles) Contreal, Sara Jane Freehling, Christopher Intartaglio and his fiancé, Kara, Jonathan Intartaglio, Leeann (Dustin) Carter, Amber Blanck, Jordan Laux, Savannah Laux, Racheal (Richard) Tran, Karl Hirnyk and Neil Lonero; her step-great-grandchild, Ray Tran; and her godson, Joshua Baker, who is the son of Linda Leri and Keith Baker.
LAUX — A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Ann Laux, who died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, will be at St. Mary Mother of God Church in Freeport. The date will be announced later.
