Rodney D. John
Rodney D. John, 76, of Bradys Bend died Thursday at the Community Living Center at the VA Butler Healthcare.
Born Aug. 26, 1941, in Adrian, he was the son of Oscar and Mary (Claypoole) John.
On Dec. 14, 1963, Rodney married the former Donna L. Foust, who survives.
A U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, Rodney was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, the Markman Expert (M-14 & 16) Badge and the Army Commendation Medal.
He was member of American Legion Post 488 in Bradys Bend.
Rodney began his career as a truck driver for Volkswagen Capitol Car Distributor in Maryland. After returning to Bradys Bend, he worked at Daman Industries for a number of years and then Indespec Chemical for 25 years.
He was a member of the Brush Valley Brethren Church in Adrian.
Rodney enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed riding his 1950 Harley. He could always be found Friday nights at the Lernerville Races and enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Pirates, Steelers and listening to country music.
Rodney looked forward to Lancaster County trips to visit his grandchildren and enjoyed Atlantic City.
He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and being the life of the party.
Surviving are his wife, Donna John of Bradys Bend; and one son, Rodney John of Bradys Bend; one granddaughter, Destiny John, and one grandson, Dakota John, both of Ephrata.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Darrell John.
