SRU makes Zieg acting provost
Michael Zieg, former associate provost for academic finance, strategic initiatives and assessment at Slippery Rock University, now will serve as acting provost for the institution.
According to the university’s website, Abbey Zink held the provost position previously, starting in late 2019. Zink’s employment status at the institution is unclear.
Rob King, chief communication and public affairs officer of SRU, said the institution was not able to comment on personnel matters.
Zink said in a statement to Slippery Rock University’s student-run newspaper “The Rocket“ that it has been a pleasure to serve the school as provost.
“It has been an honor and pleasure to serve the students, faculty and staff at Slippery Rock University. We’ve done great work together: navigating the pandemic, adding the [diversity, equity and inclusion] requirement, hosting several successful accreditation visits, creating two new colleges, and much more. I’ve worked daily to live my mantra of ‘Students First. Always’ and to foster an inclusive environment where all may thrive and all voices are heard. I look forward to continuing many friendships long into the future.”
