Dennis P. Michael, 70, of Hilliards passed away at 1:50 p.m. Friday at Allegheny General Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born July 4, 1941, in his grandmother Beach's home in Hendersonville, Pa. He was the son of the late Paul Michael and Eleanor Wyle Michael, who survives.

He attended Harrisville High School before graduating from Slippery Rock High School.

Following high school, he served with the U.S. Army, where he enjoyed some overseas duties in Germany and the surrounding area.

He retired from the Peoples Gas Co. in Grove City, and he had been previously employed on the railroad and at the Cooper Bessemer building.

He attended the Boyers United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Boyers Sportsmen's Club and the Cherry Valley VFW. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing at the Boyers Sportsmen's pond with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling and golfing. Denny always had a smile on his face and enjoyed life to it's fullest.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Lu Ann (Kirschner) Michael, who he married July 10, 1999; two daughters, Michelle (Greg) Fitzingo of Boyers and Jennifer (Ed) Gerlach of Mercer; two sons, David (Kimberly) Huebschen of Butler and Denny (Natashia) Michael of Eau Claire; six grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Stitt and Sandra Panei and her companion, Rick Frantz, all of Hermitage; and many nieces and nephews.

<B>MICHAEL</B> — Friends of Dennis P. Michael, who died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, will be received at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will also be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Boyers United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Revs. Richard Updegraff and Gary Donaldson officiating. Burial will be private.
