Mabel Isabel Molinaro

Mabel Isabel Molinaro

Mabel Isabel Molinaro, 101, passed from this Earth and to her heavenly home on Wednesday at her home in Valencia. She was surrounded by her children, Kathy (Jim) Knox, Judy (Roy) Kurtzrock and Ron (Claire) Molinaro.

She was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Dorseyville, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Erla Jane (Truver) and William Giesy.

Mabel and her husband, Tony, owned and operated a farming business which included their Denny Road and State Road properties. Tony marketed door to door fresh vegetables, eggs, butchered poultry and whole hog sausage to customers in Etna, Glenshaw, Sharpsburg and Mount Royal Blvd., as well as at the farm. Mabel worked side by side with her husband in preparing for market days, which was no easy task.

She was a lifelong member of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church in Valencia.

Her pastimes included creating beautiful hand braided rugs. In addition, Mabel was a prolific poet and writer. Her ability to memorize classic poems was astounding and she would recite them to anyone who would listen.

As a member of the Royal Grange, she served as lecturer. She organized community talent shows to draw neighborhood kids into the thrill of performance. She lavished her children with any musical pursuit they desired. She coached her children in preparation for plays and musical performances and she encouraged her grandchildren in the same way.

If life would have given her more opportunity, she would have been an incredible teacher, but she enjoyed working with her husband on the farm.

She kept her life simple, but Mabel was not simple. She had a smart intellect, wit and common sense in abundance.

She leaves behind eight grandchildren, Wendy Freihart, Lori Essick, Jamie Eads, Cory Johnson, Aaron Rose, Bill Bossinger, Anthony Molinaro and Joey Molinaro; her great-grandchildren, Bridget, Emily and Franky Freihart, Jade, Elizabeth and Abigail Essick, Jessup, Jake and Jace Eads, Christian and Benjamin Johnson, Dominick, Wyoming and Mirabel Molinaro, and Everly and William “Miles” Bossinger.

She is also survived by one great-great-grandchild, Jaxon Brinkley.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony Molinaro; her grandson, Nathan (Judy) Johnson; and her siblings, Elizabeth McGuire, Mildred Dillner, Fred Giesy and Erla Giesy.
