Harry Shaffer

Harry Ernest Shaffer, 98, of Evans City, passed away on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, while under the care of Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

Born Aug. 1, 1922 in Girard, Pa. he was the son of the late Harry and Elsie Shaffer.

Harry was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Evans City. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Harry was an avid golfer. He enjoyed watching the sprint car races at Lernerville Speedway, NASCAR, and major league baseball. He loved his dogs and cats. Harry was a loving husband, father and brother who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.Harry leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Kirk McCool; and his wife, Sharon, of Evans City; his sisters, Norma Lyons of Butler, and Ruth Ann Williams of Saxonburg; his sister-in-law, Ann Rice of Evans City; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Madelyn Rice Shaffer, whom he married December of 1951, and who passed away May 23, 2019.Shaffer — In accordance with the family's wishes, all services for Harry Ernest Shaffer, who died Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, are private.He will be laid to rest with his wife at the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Evans City Food Cupboard c/o St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 202 Van Buren St., Evans City, PA 16033.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 East Main St., Evans City.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
