Nelly Dickey

Nellie R. Dickey, 90, of Evans City passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born July 19, 1924, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Antonia (Bembeneck) Sobkowz.

She was a homemaker, and she also baked wedding cakes for 20-plus years. She was employed as a butcher for A & P Market during World War II.

She was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora and a member of the Christian Mothers at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church.

Her interests were planting flowers, gardening, sewing, spending time with her family and listening to her polkas.

Surviving are her daughter, Renell Mortimer of Evans City; her grandson, Michael A. (April) Dickey Jr. of Butler, and her great-grandson, Kyle Norling.

She was preceded in death by one son, three brothers, two sisters, nieces, nephews and a son-in- law.

DICKEY — Friends of Nellie R. Dickey, who died Saturday, June 13, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora. The Rev. James Murphy, pastor, will officiate.

Internment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
