Ann McDowell Oesterling
Ann McDowell Oesterling, 91, passed away on Wednesday.
Born and raised in Butler, she married her high school sweetheart, Donald O. Oesterling in 1947.
They first settled in Butler, then moved to the Harrisburg area, finally living in North Fort Myers, Fla.
Ann moved back to the Butler area in 2014 and resided at Concordia in Cabot until her passing.
Ann and Donald shared a love of traveling around the country in their RV, experiencing the outdoors they loved. Ann was an avid fisherwoman until just recently when health prevented her from baiting a hook (lucky for the worms).
As a registered nurse, she was well-known for many years as the nurse on duty at the annual Big Butler Fair. She gave freely of her time and was always up for a good game of Scrabble, bridge or dominoes.
Ann is survived by her son, Michael James (Penny) Oesterling; her daughter, Dawn (Gary) Prebula; her grandsons, Eric (Julie) Prebula, Michael Christopher Oesterling and Peter J. Oesterling Jr.; her granddaughter, Elizabeth (Phil) Owens; her great-grandchildren, Illyanna Indiana Prebula and Quentin, Violet and Selina Owens; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, former Pennsylvania State Senator Donald O. Oesterling; her parents, James and Grace McDowell; her sister, Helen Phillips; her brother, James McDowell; and her sons, Mathew John Oesterling and Peter J. Oesterling.
