Julia (Torosi) Bruno
Julia (Torosi) Bruno, 89, formerly of the Chicora Road, Butler, died Wednesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Butler, May 5, 1922, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Elizabeth Vardy Torosi Bodnar and Charles Bodnar.
A homemaker, Julia had worked at Armco during World War II and later at the former Jay Shoppe in Butler and had managed a children's store at the Greater Butler Shopping Mart.
She was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years and had been a member of the church choir.
She enjoyed bowling and had been a member of the Coins Bowling League. She also like to crochet and made many afghans and bonnets for babies.
She was the widow of Frank Bruno Jr. They were married Jan. 10, 1944, and he died Feb. 14, 2010. She also was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Surviving are her daughter, Donna Gregory of Butler; three grandchildren and their spouses, Annissa McDeavitt (Timothy) of Ellwood City, Kelly Weber (Jason) of Grove City and Scott Gregory of Butler; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Ann Kelly of Olean, N.Y.
<B>BRUNO</B> — Friends of Julia (Torosi) Bruno, who died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, will be received at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Her pastor, the Rev. Dr. James Swanson, will officiate.
