Marjorie Madigan

Marjorie A. Madigan, 96, of Butler passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening at her home surrounded by family.

Born Sept. 6, 1922, in Ramey, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Margaret Shaw Echard.

She was a graduate of Houtzdale High School and the Altoona School of Commerce.

During World War II, Margie worked as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. For a few years in the 1970s, Margie was a receptionist at the dental practice of her son, Dr. James Madigan.

Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick R. Madigan, whom she married April 24, 1948, and who passed away Sept. 14, 2010. They were high school sweethearts and were married for 62 years. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Echard.

Margie enjoyed being a homemaker. She also enjoyed bowling, exercise class, dining with her husband at Natili North Restaurant, and spending the winter months in Venice, Fla.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Margie was a loving mother to her two children, Kathy (Mark) Mularski of Grayslake, Ill., and Dr. James (Beverly) Madigan of Butler.

She was also a proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Megan (Michael) Shields and Shannon Mularski, Patrick (Kelly) Madigan, Michael (Allison) Madigan and Timothy (Brittnee) Madigan; and 10 great-grandchildren, Liam, Rory, Sean, Makayla, Brody, Brayden, Hayden, Owen and Madeline Madigan, and Mackenzie Shields.

Margie’s family would like to express a sincere thank-you to her wonderful home caregivers, who provided her with such loving care for the past nine months.

MADIGAN — Friends of Marjorie A. Madigan, who died Tuesday, May 14, 2019, will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at noon Saturday in Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

The service will be held at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating.

Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
