Butler police Wednesday nabbed a wanted man outside an East Jefferson Street convenience store.

But the suspect, Bradley J. Harriett, 43, of Butler, ended up in more trouble when officers say they found him with suspected drugs.

Police had been looking for Harriett since Monday when they got an arrest warrant for him in connection with a recent break-in at an apartment on Third Street.

The defendant is accused of breaking into the home on March 31 while the tenant was in the hospital. He is charged with felony trespass.

Police on Monday initially spotted Harriett drive away from at his home in the 300 block of Pleasantview Avenue. They tracked his vehicle to the store, where he was arrested on the warrant.

A subsequent search, according to a police report, found him with a medicine bottle containing suspected crack cocaine. In plain view in his car, police said, were several stamp bags of suspected heroin.

Police said that in the latest case he is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Harriett on the felony charge in the warrant. The defendant was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.
