Loretta J. 'Jean' Johnston
Loretta J. “Jean” Johnston, 85, of Butler passed away at 2:45 a.m. Friday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born July 8, 1927, in Kittanning to the late Homer Swigart and Agnes (Gerboski) Swigart.
Mrs. Johnston assisted her husband, who was the maintenance manager at the Butler Arbors Apartments.
She attended the Homeacre Chapel. She belonged to the Ladies Extension Club and various bowling leagues. She was a member of the Associated Artists. Mrs. Johnston was a full-time grandmother.
Mrs. Johnston is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clair Vern Johnston, who she married on April 22, 1946; one son, Larry Lee Johnston and his wife, Amy, of Norfolk, Va.; one daughter, Linda Timblin and her husband, Paul, of Butler; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Clair Johnston, one sister and three brothers.
Johnston — Friends of Loretta J. “Jean” Johnston, who passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Charles of the Portersville Bible Church officiating.
