Della Mae Patterson, 90, of the Grove Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Liberty Township, passed away Thursday at 5:25 p.m. after a brief illness.

She was born in Volant on Oct. 20, 1923, a daughter of Henry Orville Welton and Luella Mae Johnson Welton.

She was married to Wilbur R. “Dick” Patterson on Aug. 23, 1944, and he passed away on Oct. 3, 2008.

She was a homemaker and worked at the former Kennametal in Slippery Rock, where she was a machine operator.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Grove City. Della Mae was a graduate of Grove City High School, Class of 1941.

She is survived by six children, Wayne Patterson and his wife, Lana, of Sebastian, Fla., Patricia Montgomery and her husband, Richard, of Harrisville, Cindy Buchanan and her husband, Dan, of Harrisville, Bonnie McCartney and her husband, Clair, of Hadley, Pa., Wendy Chamberlain and her husband, James, of Auburn, N.Y., and Mike Patterson of Farrell; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, David Welton and his wife, Deanna, of Brookville.

Della Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Hannah Swigart; two sisters, Thelma Neely and Josephine Wagner; and two brothers, Robert and O. Wiley Welton.

PATTERSON — Visitation for Della Mae Patterson, who died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Liberty Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Hannah Swigart Children Memorial Fund, c/o any PNC Bank or to Grove Manor Nursing Home, 435 N.
