Violet V. Thompson
Violet V. Thompson, 86, of Slippery Rock passed away Friday at Grove City Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Saxonburg, the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Bertha Eckner Weckerly.
Violet worked as a licensed practicing nurse at Butler Hospital for 20 years. She had attended different churches in Slippery Rock and was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Saxonburg VFW. She also loved to read.
Surviving are her daughter, Joyce (William) Bronder of Hubbard, Ohio; four stepchildren, Jill (Edward) Geidner of Grove City, Jack D. (Rosalie) Thompson of Petrolia, Paul Kevin (Debby) Thompson of Boyers and Scott K. Thompson of Petrolia; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Lulubelle Bauldoff of Worthington and Grace Swigart of Craigsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. “Bud” Cushey, who died Dec. 9, 1975; her second husband, Charles S. Thompson, who died Jan. 15, 1998; one daughter; one grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.
THOMPSON — Friends of Violet V. Thompson, who died Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, will be received from 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Larry Loree of All Saints Lutheran Church officiating. Private interment will be at the Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.
