Shrove Tuesday event planned

ZELIENOPLE — English Lutheran Church, 200 E. Grandview Ave., will celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a Mardi Gras theme at 5:30 p.m. in Bassler Hall.

Traditional Mardi Gras food and a doughnut station will be available.

Diabetes, heart disease talk set

The Diabetes and Health Management Center of Butler Memorial Hospital will have an educational session from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Phillips Hall, 3rd floor, Butler Memorial Hospital, 1 Hospital Way.

“Diabetes and Heart Disease” will be presented by Emily Stefaniakin.

VNA schedules women’s retreat

PROSPECT — The VNA Community Bereavement Center will host a wellness day for grieving women March 14 at Lutherlyn.

The daylong retreat is for women who recently lost a loved one. It will include educational sessions, guided discussion and healing activities. Participants should wear or bring comfortable clothes for a gentle yoga practice in the afternoon.

Student talk first in diversity series

CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Area Diversity Network, together with the Cranberry Public Library, 2525 Rochester Road, will present “Speak Through the Silence” at 7 p.m. Feb. 24 in the library’s Franklin Station Room.

Amy Hines is a senior at Seneca Valley High School. Her younger autistic sister inspired her Girl Scout Gold Award project “Speaking Through the Silence.”

This is the first of a diversity speaker series presented jointly by the CADN and CPL.

Hospice choices topic of meeting

The second in the “End of Life Issues: Hospice Decisions” meetings will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 821 Herman Road.

A representative from VNA will give a presentation on hospice choices and services.

The church is handicapped accessible.

GROVE CITY — Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, in partnership with Southern New Hampshire University, will offer new, online courses to educators and other professionals.
