Planets moving on to college baseball
ADAMS TWP — Mars baseball is sitting alone atop Section 1-5A.
Two of the prime reasons for that — pitcher-infielder Dylan Rotz and outfielder Brandon Wetherholt — have solidified their immediate futures on the diamond.
Both seniors, Rotz has signed a letter of intent with Alderson Broaddus in Philippi, W.Va., while Wetherholt is headed to Gannon.
“Good fits for both of those guys,” Mars coach Andy Bednar said. “The PSAC is great baseball and Brandon has a good skill set to offer Gannon.
“(WVIAC member) Alderson Broaddus wants Dylan as a two-way player. He'll pitch and play first or third base for them.”
Both players hope to earn regular playing time and will be playing for relatively new head coaches.
