Norma C. Daniels

Norma C. Daniels

Norma C. Daniels, 100, of Grove City passed peacefully at Quality Life Services in Mercer on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.

Norma was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Branchton, Pa., to Floyd M. and Alice E. (Simpson) Wigton, the fifth of six children.

She was a 1938 Grove City High School graduate, and had commuted to Butler High School by train and Slippery Rock on foot. During World War II, she did factory work at Palmer Smith.

She and Andy Daniels were wed on July 3, 1942; he preceded her in death May 24, 1995.

All of her life she stayed in touch with family and friends by old fashioned telephone, because she cared and prayed for them. Until two years ago, she was a chauffeur to friends and baked them bread.

She was a regular front desk volunteer at Grove City Hospital, until her 99th birthday. A goer and doer who trusted God for results, it may be said she “looked well to the ways of her household, and ate not the bread of idleness.”

Survivors include her daughter, Carole (Malcolm) Gibson of Greenville, S.C.; her sons, Daryl (Yea), Plymouth, Wis., and David (Mary) of Circleville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband; her sisters, Elmo (Parke), Ethel (Wiley), Erma (Osborne), and Vernie (Vitale); her brother, Earl; her daughter, Colleen (James); two infant grandchildren; and two infant great-grandchildren.

DANIELS — Visitation hours Norma C. Daniels, who died Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Burial will be held in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.

Memorials can be made to East Main Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Fidelis Class and Mothers Guild.
