Chicora man charged in two separate crimes
A Chicora man has been charged in two separate crimes in which he allegedly took part during the past two months.
State police charged Christian N. Jordan, 26, with a felony DUI, along with other related misdemeanors and traffic violations.
Jordan also has charges pending from a separate incident involving the vandalism of two Chicora properties, one of which was the Chicora Elementary School.
According to charging documents, state police received a call around 2:20 p.m. Dec. 28 about an erratic driver traveling west on Route 422.
The documents said the caller described and gave license plate information for a Chevrolet Colorado truck that police later saw pulled over on the side of Route 422, about one mile from east of the Jefferson Street exit.
Police said they pulled behind the truck and investigated, finding the driver to be Jordan, who at the time had a suspended license for a previous DUI.
“I immediately smelled the odor of burnt and raw marijuana,” said the investigating trooper in the affidavit. “I noticed Jordan's eyes to be glassy, bloodshot and watery.”
Police said they conducted a field sobriety test, during which Jordan showed signs of impairment, and they later searched the vehicle, which produced a container of suspected marijuana and a glass smoking pipe.
Documents said Jordan consented to blood tests at Butler Memorial Hospital, which indicated prescription medicine and marijuana was in his system.
Police said this would be Jordan's third DUI if convicted.
Although charges have been filed, a court date has not been set for the case, but Jordan is scheduled to appear in court for separate charges from another incident in December.
Jordan is scheduled for a Feb. 23 preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton on misdemeanor charges of vandalism and criminal mischief.
State police in that case accused Jordan of driving a different truck, a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, through the yard of a Chicora resident and also of the Chicora Elementary School's property on Dec. 2.
Police said they retrieved video from the school's cameras showing the truck driving onto the property.
Both victims reported estimated damages of about $2,500 each, according to the documents.
