[naviga:h3]Cannabis company buys California town [/naviga:h3]

NIPTON, Calif. — Now that one of the nation’s largest cannabis companies has bought the entire California desert town of Nipton, a question remains: Will the new owners rename the place Potsylvania?

American Green announced Thursday it is buying all 80 acres of the town whose current owner likes to describe it as being conveniently located in the middle of nowhere.

Nipton owner Roxanne Lang said escrow hasn’t closed yet. But she confirmed American Green is the buyer.

The new owner plans to turn the onetime Gold Rush town 60 miles from Las Vegas into an “energy-independent, cannabis-friendly” destination.

Only about 20 people live in the town.

[naviga:h3]BBQ pit stolen from restaurant[/naviga:h3]

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police are investigating a bizarre heist of a 1,700-pound barbecue pit from a popular Albuquerque restaurant.

Police said the black and red 200-gallon smoker smoke was stolen early Sunday.

Daniel Morgan, the owner of Pepper’s Ole Fashion BBQ, said the smoker was cooking up a batch of brisket when it was taken.

Morgan said most of the meat the restaurant serves is prepared in an indoor barbecue pit and he uses the custom built apparatus for catering gigs.

Morgan said he considered launching a crowdfunding page to help cover the $5,800 cost of a replacement.
