Police are investigating three suspected drug overdose deaths in the county last weekend.

All three victims, whose names were not released, were discovered in residences Saturday. The Butler County Coroner responded to all three.

A 27-year-old man was found by family members in an Adams Township home around noon, said Deputy Coroner John Hanovick.

Adams Township Police Chief Shawn Anglum said the death appeared to be from drugs and police are investigating the cause.

Whenever there are multiple deaths in the area, it is possible that heroin laced with other drugs has been going around, he said.

“You can overdose on heroin, but if you get fentanyl or that other stuff it’s even worse,” he said.

Also found dead were a woman in her 30s in West Liberty and a male in his 30s in Prospect, Coroner William Young said. State police responded to both cases.

The coroner’s office will wait for toxicology test results before confirming that any of the deaths were drug-related, Young said.

Not including deaths from the past two weeks, the coroner’s office has recorded 63 confirmed overdose deaths this year.

There has been a marked increase in drug-related deaths in the county in recent years. In 2014 there were 33 confirmed drug-related deaths and in 2015 there were 47.
