Raymond F. Delgado
Raymond F. Delgado, 79, of Renfrew died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness.
Born May 19, 1932, in Douglas, Ariz., he was the son of Emeterio and Loreto (Foss) Delgado.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.
Ray began his career as an opto-mechanical engineer at Tinsley Laboratories in Berkeley, Calif., where he was a draftsman. He retired as president in 1998 from the Nu-Tek Precision Optical Corp. in Aberdeen, Md.
He was an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley, a member of the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, and an active member of the Penn Township Veteran's Association. He loved to sing and play the guitar, had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit, and a great lust for life.
Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice (Mijares) Delgado, who he married on Feb. 5, 1953; three sons, Anthony Delgado and his wife, Priscilla, of San Francisco, Roger Delgado of Renfrew and Timothy Delgado of Old Lyme, Conn.; a daughter, Karen (Delgado) Schaffner and her husband, Jude Schaffner, of Renfrew; a former daughter-in-law with whom he remained close, DruAnn (Heath) Delgado of Munhall; six grandchildren, Theresa and Fiona Delgado, Joshua and Gabriel Schaffner, Misa (Schaffner) Park and Courtney (Heath) McCoy; and a brother, Claudio Delgado of Temple City, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his eight brothers and sisters.
<B>DELGADO</B> — A Mass of Christian burial for Raymond F. Delgado, who died Saturday, March 17, 2012, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., Butler. The Rev. James Salberg, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
