Jason Beckwith wants to be the example he needed as a child growing up in Butler.

Beckwith leads Action in Recovery, a group of people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction who do community service projects in the city.

AIR will hold Kids Fun Day from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 27 in Rotary Park.

“We’re trying to be the role models we needed when we were kids,” said Beckwith, who is a person in recovery.

The day will feature several games and activities. There will be a hula hoop competition, a three-legged race, a squirt gun race and other games.

Kids also will be privy to prizes and giveaways. Those interested in sports may receive equipment including footballs, basketballs and hula hoops.

Food also will be available, including hot dogs, chips and bottled water.
