Snider returns home for free performance

Rue Snider, a musician who grew up in Butler and attended Butler High School, currently resides in Brooklyn, N.Y., when he is not on tour.

But he is returning home for a show at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cummings Candy & Coffee West, 530C Evans City Road. Admission is free.

This show is part of a short tour while Snider is en route to Nashville to record his next full length album with producer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Langhorne Slim, Benjamin Booker).

He most recently released an extended play song called “Speak My Mind.”

This release was a step forward in production and arrangement from his 2016 full length album “Broken Window.”

He used the opportunity after the positive reviews for “Broken Window” to record the protest song “Speak My Mind” in Nashville, also with producer Tokic.

Snider has spent several years touring nationally, sharing the stage with artists including Lydia Loveless, Tom Maxwell (Squirrel Nut Zippers), Superhuman Happiness, Benjamin Scheuer (“The Lion”), Blue Healer, Donna Missal, and Walter Salas-Humara (the Silos).
