Edward Patrick Malley

Edward Patrick Malley, 77, of East Brady passed away from cancer at his daughter's home Wednesday.

Edward was the only son of Edward M. and Mary E. (Potez) Malley.

Born Sept. 9, 1941, in Pittsburgh, he graduated from Shaler High School in 1959.

In 1964, he was drafted into the U.S. Army until 1970, in support of the Vietnam War.

On Jan. 31, 1984, he married the former Patricia Ann Hagmaier of Pittsburgh and they moved to East Brady in 1986. They bought the St. Cloud Hotel in 1987, after it suffered a fire. With the help of Pat's children, they got the St. Cloud Hotel up and running and were the owners from 1986 until 2002.

Ed retired from Bracken's Industries in the late 1990s, where he worked as a laborer (paver) and was a member of the Local Union 1058 most of his adult life.

Ed was a member of the Bradys Bend American Legion, where he enjoyed going on a daily basis, socializing with his friends and arguing with anyone he could.

His favorite thing to do was spend time with his granddaughters and great- granddaughter.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Michelle L. Bartoe; his son-in-law, Vince Bartoe of Rimersburg; and his granddaughters, Vanessa (Matt) Norris of Ford City, Victoria (Nick) Ganter of East Brady, and Veronica Bartoe of Rimersburg; and a great-granddaughter, Mya Norris.

He is also survived by his stepsons, Patrick Rothwell of Shaler, Peter Rothwell of Fox Chapel, Timothy Rothwell of Shaler, William Arndt of North Versailles; and a stepdaughter, Suzanne Golden of Cranberry Township.

Also surviving are 14 step-grandchildren, Melory, Zachary, Lexi, Lauren, Katelynn, Ashley, Danny, Angela, Samantha, Jason, Bryan, Patrick, Nolan and Christopher; and several cousins.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Hagmaier) Malley.

MALLEY — Friends of Edward P. Malley, who died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.A Mass of Catholic burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church in East Brady with the Rev. William Kuba and the Rev. John Butler officiating.Military honors, committal services and burial will follow in St. Eusebius Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Ed to the Bradys Bend American Legion Post 488, 975 State Route 68, East Brady, PA 16028, to benefit local veterans or Hope For Your Future, P.O. Box 643, Rimersburg, PA 16248 to benefit other local cancer patients.
