Pirates, D’Backs complete trade
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired veteran infielder Josh VanMeter from Arizona in exchange for minor league pitcher Listher Sosa.
VanMeter, 27, played in a career-high 112 games last season for the Diamondbacks, hitting .212 with 17 doubles, six homers and 36 RBI. He was 18-for-54 (.333) with runners in scoring position.
He played second base, third base, first base, left and right field. The Pirates designated outfielder Jared Oliva for assignment to make room for VanMeter on the 40-man roster.
