Wintery conditions on Monday were a possible contributing factor in multiple crashes in Butler County, and the conditions — plus a winter weather advisory — are expected to persist through this afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh is calling for another 1 to 2 inches of snowfall today, with sustained wind speeds of 8 to 15 mph, and gusting as high as 26 mph.

The predictions caused one school district, Seneca Valley, to issue a two hour delay with modified kindergarten for classes on Tuesday. But Butler County Emergency Service Director Steve Bicehouse said the conditions shouldn't be too treacherous for motorists.

Bicehouse said that although Monday morning saw vehicle accidents, last night was quiet for emergency responders throughout the county.

“It was a quiet night,” he said. “There were no vehicle accidents. They called out road crews, but that's all that happened.”

The NWS says snow is possible, but less likely, through Thursday. But all precipitation is expected to stop by Thursday night.
