The Butler Musical Theatre Guild has announced the availability of tickets for its spring show, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."

Members can order tickets from Sunday through March 25 by calling 724-287-8243 between 7 and 9 p.m.

Tickets will be available to the general public beginning March 30 at May's Music Shoppe, 247 E. Jefferson St.

Performances will take place at 8 p.m. April 17 and 18 and at 3 p.m. April 19 at the Succop Theater on the Butler County Community College campus.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students.

This play is billed as Broadway's greatest farce.

Rock at Knoch sets spring show

SAXONBURG — The Rock at Knoch spring edition will take place April 24 at Knoch High School.

This battle of the bands will start at 5 p.m. with the last band going on stage about 10:30 p.m. About 10 bands will compete.

Harmony hosts buffet dinner

HARMONY — The Harmony Museum will host the first of its popular German buffet dinners for 2009 on April 18 in Stewart Hall adjacent to the museum on Mercer Street.

The buffet will include stuffed pork, meatballs in caper sauce, assorted sausages, dandelion salad, asparagus, glazed carrots, German potato salad, spaetzle, red cabbage, potatoes, applesauce, and a dessert assortment. Tea and coffee will be available for those who don't bring their own favorite German beverage.

Happily-ever-after musical planned

ZELIENOPLE — "Into The Woods," the 1988 Tony Award-winner, explores what happens after happily-ever-after. The show, which has a score by Stephen Sondheim, will be staged at 7:30 p.m. March 27 and 28 and April 2, 3 and 4 and at 2 p.m. March 29 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 415 E. Grandview Ave.

'Night of Jazz' is scheduled

FOXBURG — "A Night of Jazz" featuring high school and college jazz ensembles is planned for 7:15 p.m. March 26 at Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School.

Bands to play include the Allegheny — Clarion Valley Jazz Ensemble, the Clarion University Jazz Band, the Grove City College Stage Band and the Grove City College Jazz Ensemble.

Heritage Center celebrates oil

The Butler County Heritage Center, 119 W. New Castle St., is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the oil industry with two exhibits.

Visitors can view the center's own oil exhibit focusing on Butler County and featuring many items from the collection of the late local oil historian Lenn McCorry, including tools, photographs, and other artifacts.

The Heritage Center will also host a traveling exhibit called "Oil and the Pennsylvania Valley That Changed the World" with dozens of photographs of the various stages of the Western Pennsylvania oil boom. This exhibit includes text and visuals that briefly tell the story of how the oil industry began.

The exhibits will open with hours from 4 to 7 p.m. April 1. The museum will also be open from noon to 4 p.m. April 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22 and 26.

Museum admission is $5 for adults, $2 for youths ages 5 to 17, and free for those younger than 5.

'Partridge Family' star to perform

FRANKLIN — Former teen idol, actor, singer and Las Vegas performer David Cassidy will bring his show to the Barrow-Civic Theatre, 1223 Liberty St., on March 27.

The concert will begin at 8:30 p.m. and will feature songs from all phases of Cassidy's career.

Cassidy rocketed to fame in 1971 with the "Partridge Family" television show followed by a real-life recording career. Most recently he released "A Touch of Blue," a CD comprised of original songs and covers.

Observatory site of star party

FRAZER TWP, Allegheny County — See Saturn with its rings almost on edge and catch a last glimpse of the Great Orion Nebula during the International Year of Astronomy 2009 Star Party on April 3 and 4 at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, Frazer Township, near Russellton.

This event is part of the worldwide star party celebrating the IYA2009 that will run for 100 hours from April 2 to 5.

The weekend's events are sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh. The AAAP, the second oldest astronomy club in the USA, is celebrating its 80th anniversary.

Museum holds scavenger hunt

PITTSBURGH — While exploring the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in search of eggs and information, children can have an afternoon full of prizes and learning from noon to 4 p.m. April 11.

Children and their families will journey through the halls on a scavenger hunt. Armed with an activity guide, children will travel to six discover stations for an egg-related nature question. The answer completes a rhyming clue, and egg hunters can use the clue to find eggs in the museum.

Cult classic musical staged

PITTSBURGH — Point Park University's Conservatory Theatre Company will present Richard O'Brien's cult classic musical, "The Rocky Horror Show," March 27 through April 11 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, 222 Craft Ave.

The Rocky Horror Show is the risqué tale of two straight-laced lovebirds who run into car trouble on a rainy night and seek refuge in the eerie mansion up the street.

Band to perform Queen tribute

PITTSBURGH — The tribute show, One Night of Queen, will perform at 7 p.m. April 5 at the Byham Theater, 101 Sixth St.

Performed by Gary Mullen & The Works, this live concert will feature renditions of Queen's hits, including "We Will Rock You," "Another One Bites the Dust," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Bohemian Rhapsody."
