Butler grad Malis All-AMCC bowler

ERIE — Butler graduate Reegan Malis has been named third team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in bowling. She was a freshman at Penn State Behrend this season.

Malis served as the anchor for Behrend most of this season. Her traditional average was 159.6. She had the 12th-best Baker average in the AMCC at 17.69. She rolled a 266 game this season.

BC3 Hall of Fame slated for May 7

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. May 7 in the BC3 Field House.

Inductees this year are Hal Koenemund (1993-94 basketball) and Trace Pease (1983-85 tennis and basketball) from the HOF Class of 2020, Nicole Sebastian Bajuszik (2002-04 volleyball and softball) from the HOF Class of 2021), Kimberly Burford Geyer (1981-83 volleyball, basketball and softball) and Kevin Dill (1995-96 basketball) from the HOF Class of 2022.

SR swimmers get all-region honors

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock High School’s 200-yard medley relay team of Natalie Double, Anne Katherine Burns, Mollie Massella and Grace Olshanski have been named first team All-Region 1, District 10 in girls swimming.

Earning second team honors are Massella in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, Olshanski in the 50 and 100 freestyle, Burns in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 free relay team of Double, Burns, Katie Shea and Olshanski.

Slippery Rock was Region 1 champion this season.

Bown scores win in harness racing

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove Lifeisbutadream to victory during harness racing action Wednesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 6-year-old mare captured the $5,400 Claiming race in a career-best time of 1 minute, 52.4 seconds.

Castillo hits pair in Pirate defeat

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Diego Castillo hit two home runs and collected three RBI in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 9-4 Grapefruit League loss to the Minnesota Twins Wednesday.

Bligh Madris homered for the Pirates as well. The Bucs have hit a major league-high 27 homers in 12 exhibition games this spring. They play Baltimore on Thursday in Bradenton.
