Butler Catholic School had a special visit from children’s author Mike Bezilla on Wednesday afternoon.

Bezilla, a Gibsonia resident, read his recently published book, “The Adventures of Michael John: X Marks the Spot” to students in second and third grades. The book tells the story of young Michael John as he follows a special map to find his lost treasure, a birthday gift from Pap Pap.

Following the reading, Bezilla held a question-and-answer session with students interested in learning more about the writing process and Bezilla’s life.

“It was a blast!” Bezilla said.

The reading included a special visit from Bezilla’s father, Mike Bezilla, the inspiration for Pap Pap.

This is the first book in a series of adventures Bezilla has planned for Michael John. Bezilla concluded his visit by reading a brief excerpt from Michael John’s next quest, which will be taking place in outer space.

Bezilla donated a copy of “X Marks the Spot” to the BCS library. Students who didn’t get the chance to meet Bezilla in person will still be able to enjoy his work by borrowing the book.
