Delmar “Del” Simpson, 79, of Highfield passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

He was born March 9, 1942, in Ellis, Kan., and was the son to the late Charles and Luella Simpson.

Delmar retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of honorable service to his country. He then worked at ODECO, handling offshore drilling for over 10 years, and for Siemens and ATS for numerous decades. Throughout those years, he found time to volunteer at Highfield Hall for over four decades, as well as holding offices on their board.Along with having an unending passion to work and stay busy, he was the most beloved and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend. He might have been known to his family as “Grumpy Grandpa,” but he would go to the end of the world for his loved ones.He was the devoted husband of Marie “Elaine” Simpson for over 55 years; beloved father of Donald (Mary) Simpson and Christine (Carlton) Conley Sr.; and the brother of Janice Reading and Nora Jennings.He is also survived by his grandchildren, Keith Simpson, Breann (Matt) Pfeifer and Ryan Christy; and his great-granddaughter, Hannah Marie Pfeifer.Delmar was preceded in death by his sister, Elva Simpson.Simpson — Friends of Delmar “Del” Simpson, who died Thursday, April 22, 2021 will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at SPENCER D.
