William T. Tishey
William T. Tishey, 86, of Butler died Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Butler, on June 12, 1926, and was a son of the late Thomas Tishey and Katherine Ochaba Tishey Vaculick.
Bill was an expert carpenter and retired in 1988 as superintendent of the C. T. Dumbaugh Construction Co., where he was employed for 36 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps and he was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler, where he had served as chaplain for seven years.
He was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, enjoyed gardening and working on crossword puzzles and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan who always cheered on the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. Most of all, Bill was happiest spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth Dodds Tishey. They were married Nov. 8, 1947.
Also surviving are three children and their spouses, Deborah and Randall Lineman of Butler, William and Debra Tishey of Greenville, S.C., and David and Lynn Tishey of Suwanee, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene (Mark) Nowakowski of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Thomas R. Tishey, who died unexpectedly Nov. 28, 2011, and a brother, Donald Tishey.
TISHEY — Friends of William T. Tishey, who died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler.
