SR Area school board evaluates superintendent

Angelucci met standards

The Slippery Rock Area School District school board completed the annual review of superintendent Alfonso Angelucci, and found he met the board's objective performance standards.

The school board met in executive session Aug. 9 to conduct the evaluation and performance assessment, which involves a review of the superintendent's performance over the past year, taking into consideration the goals Angelucci set forth the previous year.

Angelucci said improving technology and communication was one major objective.

“A big part of my personal goal was just improving communication,” Angelucci said. “With everything that was going on with the pandemic, changes to the instructional format, going from in-person to online education, I wanted to make sure we were doing the best we could.”

The school board members approved the results of the evaluation at Monday's meeting.

According to Angelucci, improving communication was a goal for the district when he had his last evaluation. The continuous policy changes brought about because of the coronavirus pandemic meant the school district still had to be on the ball with virtual communication.

The Slippery Rock Area School District bettered communication between students and teachers by giving every student a laptop this year, and Angelucci said there are more innovations coming.

“We are even still looking into how we can best offer opportunities for our students, whether they be online or in-person,” Angelucci said. “I think we're going to expand a little on communication.”

According to Angelucci, the subject of salary adjustments will be discussed at a future school board meeting.
