Butler Area School District gets 'Farm to School' grant
Rep. Marci Mustello, R-11th, announced that Butler Area School District has received a $15,000 “Farm to School” grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
The grant's goal is to incorporate local agriculture and nutition into school programs. The funds will allow students of the Future Farmers of America to lead kindergarten field trips to local agricultural sites.
A portion of the funds will also be used for “From Our Farms to Your Arms” evening events at elementary schools where community members can sample locally grown produce.
