United Way to hold Women’s History Month event in Zelienople

The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania Women’s Leadership Council will celebrate Women’s History Month by hosting a March Mixer & Shopping Crawl on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in downtown Zelienople.

The event, returning to an in-person format after being held virtually last year, “shines a light on supporting community partners and local businesses,” said public relations manager Stacy Skiavo.

“(The event) reinforces United Way’s commitment to improving lives across the region while aiming to inspire more women to get involved with the WLC,” she said.

Sixteen Butler County women-owned businesses are participating in the event, including Boutique 16063, CURIO, Eva Bryn Shoetique, Haute Designs, Hearth & Home Furnishings, Local Boutique Kids 16063, Maddalon Jewelers, Mathew Jewelers, Ooh and Aah, ShuBrew, Handcrafted Ales & Food/General Shu’s, Spring Street Studios, Stony Run Winery, Studio Z Yoga, The NUE Look At Home, The Perfect Piece Home Furnishings, and UnOrdinary.

The group will meet at NextTier Bank at 226 South Main St. In lieu of paying for a ticket, attendees are encouraged to make a donation to United Way’s Impact Fund.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to donate personal care items for the WLC women’s personal care kit drive. The collection will continue throughout April and kits will be assembled in May at each of the United Way offices. The kits will be distributed to domestic violence shelters throughout the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s five-county region.

The group is particularly looking for donations of shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, edge control and Jamaican black castor oil; bonnets, hair wraps, scarves, and beanies; makeup bags, makeup brushes and makeup for women of color; sheet masks, moisturizing body wash and body lotion; nail kits, razors, shaving cream, combs, and brushes.
