Patient accused of clawing two nurses

Butler Township Police filed charges Friday against a Butler Memorial Hospital patient who two nurses say assaulted them.

Hilary L. Knisely, 31, of Petrolia, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct related to a March 19 incident.

Police said they responded to a call to the hospital’s ER at 5:47 a.m. Police found Knisely restrained in a bed and two nurses who claimed to have been attacked.

“(One nurse) advised that Knisely was being difficult with staff about taking vitals and all other things that needed to be done for her care,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit. “(The nurse) said that something set Knisely off, and she started yelling and striking at medical staff.”

Police said Knisely punched one nurse in the chest and slapped her in the face. Police said they did not see apparent injuries on the nurse. Police said Knisely had also dug her nails into the nurse and another nurse.

"Knisely sunk her fingernails into (the second nurse’s) left arm while she was assaulting (the first nurse,)“ police said. ”(The second nurse) had deep scratches into her wrist and arm that were bleeding.“

Knisely has yet to be arraigned on these charges; however, once she is, she will be issued a bond and scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
