Paul David “Dave” Zarnick
Paul David “Dave” Zarnick, 79, of Butler, was received in Heaven on Saturday. He was greeted by his parents Dorothy and Paul Zarnick and his children Dr. Philip D. Zarnick and Rene N. Zarnick, who preceded him in death.
Born Sept. 20, 1937, in Butler, he was a son of the late Paul and Dorothy Hilliard Zarnick.
He had worked at Pullman Standard and had served in the Pennsylvania National Guard as a medic during the Bay of Pigs.
His career with the Butler City Fire Department began in 1968. He retired as the Assistant Fire Chief to become the City Fire Marshal, retiring in 1991. Dave was a member of the Fire Fighters Local #1149.
In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, chess, playing cards, softball, umpiring and coaching. He also enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, fishing, boating, hunting, traveling and was an avid gardener.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and mentor. The heart and patriarch of his beloved family, he was steadfast, firm and true to his convictions and moral code.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years Shirley A. Lorenz Zarnick; two daughters Paula Snodgrass and Joni (Susan) Zarnick; five grandchildren, Justin (Heather) Snodgrass, Kathryn (Kenny) Kisow, Richelle O’Brien, Alexandria Bowser and Zane (Kristan Minehart) Eury; one brother James Zarnick; 10 great- grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
ZARNICK — Friends of Paul David “Dave” Zarnick who died Saturday, June 3, 2017, will be received from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Butler.
