Time for playoff success

Happy Halloween!

Maybe I'll dress up as a bird who looks like he knows what he's talking about.

Who looks like he knows football.

Who looks like he's soaring like an eagle.

OK, maybe I'm being too hard on myself.

I was 7-2 last week, after all. But my overall record is 76-27 and I'm not happy about it.

Time to lift up my drooping beak and get to work. The playoffs have arrived and it's time to shine:

The Raiders played two distinctly different halves — one great, one terrible — in a 26-20 loss at Lebo during the regular season. The Blue Devils' four losses this year are all against powerhouse teams. I see Seneca Valley keeping it close again, but coming up short. No Revenge Tour this year ... then again, I've been wrong before.Mt. Lebanon, 21-17.

Two late regular season losses have put the Planets in a predicament.Instead of hosting a playoff game, they have to travel to Peters Township to face a defense that's allowing a paltry 8.7 points a game.I don't see the Planets overcoming that.Peters Township, 27-13.

The Trojans were unbeaten in Big East Conference play this season. Their only loss, in fact, is to Central Valley, which is ranked No. 1 in the state now.North Catholic quarterback Zack Rocco went over the 6,000-yard career passing mark in last week's win over Deer Lakes. The Trojans have run the ball well, also. All of that does not bode well for a South Park team sporting a 4-5 record and allowing eight more points per game than they score, on average.North Catholic, 34-14.

This may be the most intriguing game of the weekend, causing me to overwork my bird brain. The Gremlins have rushed for more than 3,000 yards and scored 60 touchdowns on the ground. The host Panthers have rushed for 2,800 yards and thrown for more than 1,200.Karns City has momentum going into the playoffs. Keystone has won nine straight. The Panthers have also lost 22 straight to KC. Make it 23.Karns City, 32-21.

Not exactly a home game for Harbor Creek, but Veterans Stadium in Erie is close enough.Slippery Rock has knocked Harbor Creek out of the playoffs the past two years, but the Huskies are unbeaten this year and have shut out six of their nine opponents. The Rockets will hang in there, but the Huskies will extract some revenge.Harbor Creek, 25-16.Scoop is happy he wasn’t traded before the NFL deadline this year.
