With 47 years behind them, there's still Road Work ahead

Members of the eastern Ohio band Road Work are, from left, Bucky Stokes, steel guitar; Jim Yoeman, lead guitar and vocals; Tommy Deems, drums; Roger Laird, bass guitar; and Dan Allen, rhythm guitar and lead vocals.

Back by popular demand.

It will be a return engagement for David Allen & the Road Work Band when they present the 2018 Butler Farm Show’s final free concert on Aug. 10.

Road Work was the closing act at the 2017 Farm Show a year ago. As a matter of fact, Road Work closed the 2016 Butler Farm Show, too.

The band, which hails from eastern Ohio, has been playing continuously for 47 years, said front man Dan Allen, of Girard, Ohio.

A band that’s been around for the better part of five decades picks up an expanded and eclectic playlist, he said.

His brother, David Allen, the original lead vocalist and guitarist, passed away in the spring of 2017 but the band kept his name as its own in his honor, Dan Allen said.

Performances begin at 7 and 9 p.m. at the Auditorium Pavilion. The concert is free with regular admission.
