John W. Maharg
John W. Maharg, 93, of Butler passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 3, 2019, at his home.
Born Sept. 18, 1926, in Butler, he was the son of the late Charles and Ida Osgood Maharg.
John lived out his Protestant faith.
He had retired from the B&O/Chessie Railroad as a station agent, with 31 years of service.
John was a member of the Butler Old Stone Antique Car Club and the Cadillac and LaSalle Car Club of Pittsburgh. He was a judge for the Hershey Antique Car Show, as well as local car shows for many years.
John is survived by a very special friend, Barbara Cary; two daughters, Carol Kravits of Butler and Connie (Marve) Gaiser of Kittanning; three sons, Jerry (Janet) Maharg of Zelienople, Alvin (Janice) Maharg of Odessa, Mo., and Merle Maharg of Butler; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, William Lutz of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lawson Maharg; one daughter, Linda Lutz; two sisters; two nephews; and a longtime companion, Mary Gillman.
MAHARG — The family of John W. Maharg, who died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Jerod Crawford of St. Johns Reformed Church of Butler, officiating.
