Injuries, fatality result from Thursday night collision

CENTER TWP — A township man was killed and a father and his young daughter injured Thursday night when a car and pickup truck collided on Route 308, authorities said.

Timothy R. Spencer, 28, died in the near head-on crash about 9:10 p.m. just north of the Clearview Mall. Butler County Deputy Coroner Larry Barr pronounced Spencer dead at the scene at 10:10 p.m. He died of major head and body injuries.

Investigators said Spencer had just left his house and was driving to the store when he momentarily lost control of his southbound Ford Mustang.

The car crossed into the opposing lane, hitting a northbound full-sized pickup truck about a mile from Spencer’s home.

Authorities said the driver and passenger in the pickup, a man and his 7-year-old daughter, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Their names were not known this morning.
